What is our leave entitlements?

Casual Leave: 10 days, cannot be taken consecutively. Unused leave can be encashed. Earned Leave (2.5 days earned per month) or 30 days in a year, can be encashed at the end of the year. No carry forward. Maternity & Paternity Leave: 3 months and 10 days respectively.

What is the purpose of the Performance Rating System?

The Performance Rating System is designed to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency in evaluating staff. It supports recognition of high performers and provides guidance for those who need improvement. Each employee is evaluated on four key performance categories: Attendance & Punctuality, Deliverables (TOR), Initiative, and Volunteerism. Employees are rated monthly, then compiled into annual scores.

What is Initiative in Performance Rating?

Initiative refers to an employee’s ability to proactively take action without being told. It is a measure of how responsible, resourceful, and self-driven the employee is within their normal job responsibilities. What it looks like • Solving problems before they escalate • Suggesting improvements to workflow, guest experience, or business operations • Taking ownership of tasks assigned to them • Anticipating what needs to be done without waiting for instructions • Being prepared, punctual, and showing readiness to work. Why it matters. Initiative ensures the workplace runs smoothly, tasks get done on time, and guests receive consistent, high-quality service.

How to rate it

  • 5 points: Always proactive, improves systems, needs no supervision. Submitted 4 + genuine initiatives through the CA initiatives form in the month.
  • 4 Points : Submitted 3 genuine initiatives through the CA initiatives form in the month. needs minimal supervision.
  • 3 points: Sometimes shows initiative but still needs prompts. Submitted 2 genuine initiatives through the CA initiatives form in the month.
  • 2 points: - Rarely acts without instructions. Submitted 1 genuine initiatives through the CA initiatives form in the month.
  • 1 Point : Always waits to be told everything. No initiatives submitted.

National Holidays?

An employee shall be entitled to nine public holidays in a year with full salary, in addition to the normal rest days. National holidays to be availed by an employee shall be notified to the management in advance. National holidays shall be staggered between different employees to ensure that our business continues to be operational on such holidays unless the management decides to remain the establishment closed on such holidays. Thimphu Dromche & Tshechu holiday will be a full working day.

What is ROS? Why is it important to me?

Record of Set-back (ROS) is given in your name by a supervisor when a staff member is not fulfilling their core duties (Deliverables). Deliverables refer to the actual tasks, outputs, and responsibilities that an employee is required to complete as part of their core job description (TOR). You will be required to give written explaination for the ROS received. 0 ROS in the month means 5 points (Excellent), 1-2 ROS in the month means 4 points (Good), 3-4 ROS in the month means 3 points (Average), 5-6 ROS in the month means 2 points (Below Average) & 7 + ROS in the month means 1 point (Poor).

What is Volunteerism in Performance Rating?

Volunteerism measures how much the employee contributes beyond their normal duties, purely out of willingness to support the organization. This is not part of their TOR, and is separate from their daily tasks.

 

What it looks like

  • Helping during large visitor groups even on off days
  • Assisting with events, festivals, or school programs
  • Cleaning or organizing areas not assigned to them (Common areas, Washrooms, pathway, parking etc)
  • Beautification of the campus (Planting flowers, gardening etc)
  • Helping colleagues finish their work
  • Taking part in community or institutional events voluntarily
  • Offering extra support during emergencies, VIP visits, or busy days
  • Staying late to help even when overtime is not required

Volunteerism shows loyalty, dedication, teamwork, and commitment to the mission of Choki Artisans and CTAS.


How to rate it

Volunteer Points System:

  • Small voluntary task → 10 points
  • Medium support → 15 points
  • Major voluntary support → 20 points


Rating Scale (Points to Rating):

  • 100+ points/Month = 5
  • 70–99 = 4
  • 50–69 = 3
  • 20–49 = 2
  • 0–19 = 1
